I recently purchased a new charger that is capable of rapid
charging and cycling batteries.
However my Futaba 9 ZAP transmitter does not allow cycling or
discharging the battery. It is protected by a diode against short
circuiting and reversed polarity of charger leads.
To be able cycle and so unhibernate the Tx NiCd battery I take
the battery out of the transmitter case and put a simple jumper
to pins 1 and 2.
Then I connect the charger and do what a man's got to do. The
charger has a protection that takes care of everything that the
diode does.
