18 Tornado and four Jaguar bombers
Two warshipsTwelve Tornado GR1 attack and reconnaissance planes and 500 personnel are based at the Ali al-Salem air base in northern Kuwait, 55 kms (35 miles) from the Iraqi border.
Six other Tornados and 210 troops are based at Al-Kharj in Saudi Arabia to patrol the UN-decreed no-fly zone in southern Iraq.
Two VC-10 flying tankers and 50 personnel are in Bahrain to refuel the Tornados in flight.
Four Jaguar ground-attack fighters and a VC-10 are based at Incirlik, Turkey, to patrol the northern Iraq no-fly zone.Two Royal Navy warships, the frigate HMS Boxer, armed with Exocet and Sea Wolf missiles, and a support vessel, the Brambleleaf, are patrolling in the Gulf, said the MoD. The frigate HMS Cumberland is heading for the area.

The Invincible, which has a crew of 1,200 and saw combat in the 1982 Falklands War, has a frigate and a destroyer in its battle group. The carrier was ordered to the Mediterranean in November after the crisis over UN arms inspections in Iraq first broke out and it arrived in the Gulf lasst time on January 25.
