GENERAL:

v Total US Forcs in theater now at 513,500 troops

v The largest air, naval, and ground operation starts against Iraq.

v Soviet envoy Yevgeny Primakov meets with Saddam in Bagdad

AIR WAR:

v Air Campaign shifts full weight against the Iraqi forces in Kuwait

v 2600 sorties flown with NO losses

v Italian Tornados flew 19th mission

v Allied aircraft destroy 4 x transports and 1 x Super Frelon Helo's on the ground

 

F-117 HIGHLIGHTS (12Feb/Day 27):

v Day 27/Wave Three: 4 x F-117's from the 416th TFS

6 x F-117's from the 415th TFS

- takeoff during the p.m. of Day 26/11th to hit targets on Day 27/12th

- Scored 17 hits with 19 PGM attempts (89%)

- Hardened Aircraft Shelters at Ubaydah Bin Al Jarrah Airfield, Saddam

Hussein International Airport

- Bagdad Military Intelligence Headquarters

- Iraqi Central Intelligence Agency

- Abu Ghurayb Command, Control, and Communications Bunker

- The Ministry of Information and Culture in Bagdad

v Day 28/Wave One: 8 x F-117's from the 415th TFS

- takeoff before sunset on Day 27/12th to hit targets on Day 28/13th

- Scored 15 direct hits with 16 PGM attempts (90%)

- Military Targets assigned at North Taji Airfield Complex

- The Iraqi Air Force Headquarters Building in Bagdad

- An Arab Conference Center in Bagdad

- The Ministry of Defense Building in Bagdad

v Day 28/Wave Two: 6 x F-117's from the 416th TFS

8 x F-117's from the 415th TFS

- takeoff before sunset on Day 27/12th to hit targets on Day 28/13th

- Scored 22 direct hits with 24 PGM attempts (92%)

- 415th TFS pilots bombed a fighter direction post (GCI) and Interceptor

Operations Center at Al Kut Airfield

- Several Radio & Television Communications Centers

- The Headquarters for Military Intelligence in Bagdad

- The Iraqi Central Intelligence Agency in Bagdad

- Pilots of the 416th TFS concentrated on communications centers also

- The Balad Airfield Air Defense Operations Center (alternative target)

- the Ba'ath Party Building in Bagdad

- the AL Haqlaniyah Radio Relay Station

KILLS: None Reported

LOSSES: None reported

NOTES:

v excellent weather throughout the KTO and Iraqi target areas

v no flights to Iran

v armoured convoy of 20-50 vehicles hit near al Jabber
