Riatta

Ask any Deerhound owner about the breed he will tell you that they are kind and easygoing. And any listing of kind and easygoing Deerhounds would be topped by this dog, FIN CH & Coursing Champion, Finnish Coursing Champion-92,-93,-94 Sweetscot Dal Riata.

Riatta was such a good-mannered and courteous dog that she was always kept loose on the sidelines of our annual Specialty, even if her mistress was in the ring with another hound. A verbal instruction from her master such as "Riatta, don't go into the ring" was all that was necessary; she would lie down and wait for her mistress to return. Riatta's trust in her people was absolute.

Riatta was a multiple Finnish Coursing Champion. As she grew old she grew less interested in the lure but continued to enjoy any outing with her folks Tiina and Hannu Purhonen and the family's other hounds.
