LADY'S KISS SUPERMAN »PESSI» & ESSENTIANAN VERDANA »ILLUSIA»
August 12, 1999
Illusia joined our family in mid-July. Now Pessi has a friend to play with, a cousin no less. The age difference is exactly ten days and as you can imagine the puppies have had a great time dashing back and forth together ever since they first met. Pessi was eight and half weeks without a playmate of his own age and now has been making up for it ever since Illusia moved in.

Pessi and Illusia's round dance
At the age of some three months Pessi is the more active and rowdy of the two. He is always on the lookout for new things to chew up. Ankles and toes fascinate him, as do children's shirt lapels. Old Riatta has to growl at the puppies all day long and her voice goes hoarse. She won't let the obnoxious puppies any closer than about a meter from her and at times the puppies don't believe this and try to make closer contact.
Illusia is quiet and kind. Without attracting attention she busies herself tearing leaves off plants and flowers and carrying the children's toys and shoes around the house. She also discovered that a small Deerhound can in fact pass under the garden fence and went off exploring the neighborhood. We heaped large rocks to block that passage she has stayed in the yard ever since.

No, I haven't checked my ears today... Why do you ask ?

The puppies are now seven months old already, big in size but they still act like babies. It is like keeping an eye on two little kids. Shoes and especially children's toys are quickly demolished by sharp teeth if left unattended for even the shortest time. Illusia pruned all unneccessary leaves from the dragon plant in the living room. She also tends to find all sorts of chewable items on tables, especially Hannu's watch bands make interesting projects.
Pessi specializes in the demanding field of wastepaper basket emptying. The same basket can be toppled many times a day so we now try to keep them as empty as possible so that he can quickly get to the bottom and there is less shredded paper all over the floor. Pessi had been a good boy for several days so I left him in the living room with Riatta for half an hour. However this time he chewed on the armchair's arm and upholstery with such dedication that he will in the future again be confined in the lobby, behind the puppy gate. A puppy is a puppy !!!
