What is the Pulinalista Discussion List and why should I care ?
Our Discussion List is an easy-going forum for people interested in Deerhounds of Finnish heritage. It is a so-called Mailing List, when you send a message to pulinalista@yahoogroups.com everyone who has signed up onto the list receives your message. Think of the Discussion List as your connection to Finnish owners of Deerhounds.The Discussion List enables you to keep in touch with us, hear news and ask questions.
The List has been active since October 2002 and it has a low volume. The main language of the List is Finnish but an occasional message in Swedish or English is not frowned upon provided it has to do with Deerhounds and Finland. Most Finns understand English so it is likely that most of our List members will too.
Commercial announcements (advertizements) are not welcome but other topics having to do with Deerhounds living in or hailing from Finland are permissible. For instance...
Events: How have Finnish deerhounds done in recent dog shows ? Who is the top coursing dog in Finland today ? If our family makes a summer vacation trip to Finland next year would it be possible to visit some local Hound enthusiasts ? Are any puppies planned for next year ?
Breed information: How do Deerhounds handle the attrocious Scandinavian weather ? Do Deerhounds get along with cats ?
Discussion: What is your opinion of deerhounds of the Loch Lombally region in the early 15th century ? What will be the greatest challenges for deerhound breeders in the years to come ?

While on the Discussion List you'll also see the newest deerhound pictures - all members are able to upload files to the server for everyone's enjoyment.
What's a moderator and why does the List have one ?
The moderator sees to it that List members behave themselves even when they are discussing important issues relating to Deerhounds. The moderator is also responsible for helping out on any technical issues which may be hampering the members' use of the List. The moderator is currently Mr. Eero Juhola.
Well this Discussion List sounds like something I'd like to try out. How should I go about joining the List ?
1. Put your e-mail address into the box below and click on the Yahoo-button:
OR YOU CAN send an e-mail (you can leave the text blank) to pulinalista-subscribe@yahoogroups.com. 2. Yahoo will send you back an e-mail asking you to Confirm your subscription to pulinalista or something. Answer to that e-mail. 3. You'll get back yet another e-mail stating that Currently you are subscribed to the following Yahoo Groups group(s): o pulinalista (pending moderator approval). Now you'll have to wait for the moderator to approve your joining.
4. When the moderator is through his part you will receive a message which may read something like Request to join pulinalista approved. 5. Messages from the List will be showing up in your e-mail program. If nothing seems to be happening for a few days do not worry, ours is a low-volume List so it is possible that no new messages appear for a number of days. To post your own message on the List send an e-mail to pulinalista@yahoogroups.com
If steps 1 to 4, above, seem too much of a hassle you can always send a message to the moderator and request to be added onto the List.
Once you have subscribed to the List you can, if you have a Yahoo ID, change your settings by contacting http://groups.yahoo.com using your web browser and logging onto the server using your login ID and password. You can for example select to receive the messages as a daily digest. In addition you can read and post messages from the server no matter where in the world you happen to be at.
