What would 2004 be without a Deerhound calendar? We don't want to know! Here's our 2004 Deerhound Calendar. Like last year, it is a free download so you can print one for every room of your house !

This year we asked people on the Finnish discussion list to provide pictures for the Calendar. And they did, we are proud to present fourteen pictures by seven photographers, all depicting Finnish deerhounds doing what deerhounds are famous for all around the world - running, looking cute, taking naps... everything !

This is the second color Deerhound Calendar to be published in Finland and again we must say we're pleased about how good the pictures look when printed out on that expensive color laserprinter at your work. The names of months and days of the week are all in Finnish, but you will find that your deerhounds have no problem understanding them.

From the Net to Your Kitchen Wall

Here are some instructions for obtaining the 2004 Deerhound Calendar:

1) Download this file by clicking on it. The Calendar is a file in Adobe's PDF format and it is 2 megabytes in size. Downloading it will take between seven and twenty minutes if you have only a modem connection to the Net, but otherwise it will be a very quick download.

2) When you click on the filename your browser may ask you if you wish to open or save the file. Choose open. Your computer should now open the file using Adobe's Acrobat Reader program which comes preinstalled in many computers. If yours does not have Acrobat Reader you can download if for free from Adobe's website though the program is rather big. In order to be able to view and print the Calendar your Acrobat Reader should be of version 4.0 or newer. The current version offered by Adobe is 6.0.

3) When you have the Calendar onscreen you can print it by clicking the little printer icon in Acrobat Reader. For best results, print the Calendar on a color printer. There are fourteen pages in the Calendar so you will need fourteen pages of paper.

4) Punch some holes into one edge of the Calendar using any convenient tool. You can tie or staple the pages together.

5) Hang the Calendar somewhere where it will attract attention of fellow dog enthusiasts. Enjoy !

Frequently Asked Questions

Q:Hey, how come the names of the months are all in Finnish? Wouldn't English be a better choice?
A:Well, yes but... you see there are a few dozen Deerhound Clubs all around the world who are selling calendars in order to obtain badly-needed funding for their activities which include such things as publishing high-quality newsletters, doing hound rescue work etc. We have no wish to compete with these fine folks with our free product. Only a dedicated deerhound enthusiast such as yourself would download, print and display in her/his kitchen a deerhound calendar in an obscure Fenno-Ugric language. We suspect you already own several paid-for deerhound calendars but want this one anyway, so there is no financial loss to your local Deerhound Club :)

Q:My computer does not know which program to use to open the Deerhound Calendar. What's wrong?
A:You need to make sure that the Adobe Acrobat program is installed on your computer.

Q:Acrobat starts up but gives an error message saying something about a color problem. I can see the text and the grid but no pictures of deerhounds. What's the problem?
A:Check that you have version 4.0 or later of the Adobe Acrobat program. You can find out what your version is by selecting Help -> About Acrobat Reader from the Acrobat program's menu.
